Speaking
Mallary is a sought-after speaker on eating disorders, recovery, and parenting children to feel good about their bodies. She has appeared on more than 60 podcasts, spoken at numerous conferences, and delivered talks to universities around the country.

For many years, Mallary co-organized the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas' International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ), which convenes journalists and media executives from around the world. Mallary co-emceed this annual conference, which attracts hundreds of journalists, media executives, and journalism educators from around the world.

In March 2025, Mallary was the opening keynote speaker for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's annual conference, which convenes hundreds of university magazine writers and editors from around the country. Mallary spoke about the at of blending narrative and reportage to tell compelling stories.
In 2023, Mallary delivered a keynote address at the fifth annual Anna E. Lavoie Lecture, organized by her alma mater Providence College. She spoke on “Lessons Learned in Science and Health Communication and Reporting during the era of COVID-19." (Recording available here.)

In addition to speaking about journalism, Mallary has given numerous talks about eating disorders at international and national eating disorder conferences, including the Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association and the Academy for Eating Disorders' International Conference on Eating Disorders.
