Mallary co-organizes the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas' International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ), which convenes journalists and media executives from around the world. Mallary co-emcees this annual conference, which attracts hundreds of journalists, media executives, and journalism educators from around the world.
In 2023, Mallary delivered a keynote address at the fifth annual Anna E. Lavoie Lecture, organized by her alma mater Providence College. She spoke on “Lessons Learned in Science and Health Communication and Reporting during the era of COVID-19."
Mallary has also moderated several panels, including an ISOJ panel on solutions journalism (recording available here). She also delivered a well-received talk about the craft of journalistic writing for the Online News Association conference (recording available here).
In addition to speaking about journalism, Mallary has given talks about eating disorder recovery. In April 2021, she was the featured guest in an episode of The Hunger Trap, a podcast about eating disorders and body dysmorphia. And in July 2021, she delivered a talk at an Eating Disorders Case Conference at Boston’s Children’s Hospital where she was treated as a child. During the presentation she spoke about her eating disorder journey to an audience of physicians and nutrition and social work fellows.
Mallary is available for speaking opportunities.
