Mallary co-organizes the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas' International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ), which convenes journalists and media executives from around the world. Mallary co-emcees this annual conference, which in 2021 attracted 7,300 registrants from 154 countries.
In 2020, Mallary moderated an ISOJ panel on solutions journalism (recording available here), and in 2018 she delivered a talk about the craft of journalistic writing for the Online News Association conference (recording available here).
In addition to speaking at journalism conferences, Mallary has also delivered talks about eating disorder recovery. In April 2021, she was the featured guest in an episode of The Hunger Trap, a podcast about eating disorders and body dysmorphia. And in July 2021, she delivered a talk at an Eating Disorders Case Conference at Boston’s Children’s Hospital where she was treated as a child. During the presentation she spoke about her eating disorder journey to an audience of physicians and nutrition and social work fellows.
